INTOLERANCE
Beta SP, 33 min.
TV Slovenija, BRUT film, Studio MI, E-Motion film
Ljubljana, 1991
screenplay: Lela B. Njatin
and Zemira Alajbegovic
director: Neven Korda
The video film is based upon a novel by Lela B. Njatin, an extremely fragmented
piece of narrative. The film retains all characteristics of the original text,
introducing the fragmentariness both in the video image and the music score.
The heroine experiences only fragments of events, she gets involved in meetings
which start but never end, she has wishes which are outlined, but never consumed.
In the video film, all these fleeting and intolerable moments, transvestism
and changes of identities are indicated with the layering of visual images
and mixing of different sounds: narrations in off, dialogues, noises, radio
broadcasts. The delusive and ungraspable images fluctuate between reality
and dreams.

TV Slovenija
Ljubljana, 1993
screenplay: Zemira Alajbegovic
director: Neven Korda
The storyteller is flicking through documents and is trying to reconstruct the
life of Lela: in the Middle Ages she was accused of witchcraft, in the 20th
Century she finds herself in the midst of a war and in the future she will leave
this planet. The documents are incomplete and unreliable. We can not state with
certainty that she has ever lived at all.

THE SAND COLLECTORS
Betacam SP, D3 mastering, 12 min.
V.S. Video - Forum Ljubljana, TV Slovenija
Ljubljana, 1995
scenarij: Zemira Alajbegovic
režija: Neven Korda
A story about an art collector, as she remembers it in her old age and as
told by her acquaintance, a psychoanalyst. A story of a heroine, which was
started already by the authors in the video film Intolerance and continued
in Autobus. This time Lela is an artist and an art collector. She lives in
a time of artistic avant-garde movements - in a period when the hopes for
the change of art and the world are high. In the film apocryphal documents
intertwine with various views on the role of art and the mission of the artist,
which were emerging in the first half of the 20th Century.
